To Optimize Immune Function and Collagen Synthesis

MEGA C PLUS is the first vitamin C compounded (1976) for the enhancement of collagen synthesis for the prevention of canine hip dysplasia (CHD) and to optimize immune function for the prevention of feline leukemia (FeLV).

It is the author’s concept that canine hip dysplasia (CHD) is a manifestation of nutritional deficiencies. Collagan is that physiological substance synthesized by the body that affords strength, integrity and stability to bones (osteogenesis), cartilage (chondrogenesis), and muscles (myogenesis). The nutritional standards established by the National Research Council (NRC) and the American Feed Control Officials, Inc. (AAFCO) are not sufficient to synthesize and optimize collagen production and maintain optimum health. These nutritional recommendations are minimums, barely enough nutrition to keep your pet alive. Strategically thinking, minimums will not prevent canine hip dysplasia nor optimize immune function. In the author’s thirty-seven years of practicing small animal medicine, he observed no CHD in canine puppies supplemented nutritional through their first eighteen months of life.

Preventing Canine Hip Dysplasia (CHD) begins with supplementing the pregnant female with MEGA C PLUS and is continued in the newborn two hours after birth with MEGA C DROPS. MEGA C PLUS is in crystalline form which is easily incorporated into a wet ration. Because of the anti-inflammatory and analgesic qualities of MEGA C PLUS, it is also beneficial in the treatment of arthritis and degenerative spinal myelopathy.

To optimize immune function in canines and felines: To optimize this goal, it is imperative to administer MEGA C PLUS at an optimal level. To accomplish this end, it is essential to establish a “bowel tolerance” level which varies from one animal to another. This level improves the cell-mediated immune system, which is the body’s first line of defense against invading microorganisms and allergens.

Feline Leukemia (FeLV), Feline Infectious Peritonitis (FIP) and Feline Immunosuppressive Virus: Cats who test positive for these viruses and display no symptoms for any of these diseases can become negative through the MEGA C PLUS protocol to optimize immune function. The duration of treatment depends upon the age of the cat and how long the virus/viruses have been present in the body. Unfortunately, there is no “quick fix.” It does require time for the immune system to respond to MEGA C PLUS.

Notes: This protocol may not be effective for those cats that have become “positive” after being vaccinated for the above diseases. The nutritional supplements to be effective, they must interact with food, therefore, if your pet is not eating, the protocol will have minimal results.
